Hysterioscopic and endoscopic surgery

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows the inside of the womb to be examined and treated using a thin telescope passed through the cervix — often without any cuts to the abdomen, and frequently as a day case.

Mr Sideris offers:

  • Diagnostic hysteroscopy for abnormal bleeding, post-menopausal bleeding or suspected polyps
  • Hysteroscopic removal of polyps and fibroids
  • Endometrial sampling and assessment
  • Insertion of a Mirena (hormonal) coil or other intrauterine devices

Our approach

Diagnose. Treat. Follow up.

Diagnose

Hysteroscopy can be done under general anaesthesia, or awake (outpatient). We offer the first option. This can be applicable in cases of abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids that protrude into the cavity, polyps etc

Treat

We perform both diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy to remove polyps or fibroids with no scars (trans-cervically). Occasionally in very selected cases or early stage endometrial cancer when family is incomplete, we can consider an endscopic approach until ready for the gold standard treatment (hysterectomy)

Follow up

We follow up throughout to ensure that we have achieved the desired results. This is mutually agreed post treatment.

Many hysteroscopic procedures are quick and can be done with minimal or no anaesthetic. Mr Sideris will explain your options and make sure you are comfortable and fully informed beforehand.
